While it may be a good idea to charge for chatrooms, there are so many that are free.

http://www.financialchat.com has a great room.  join the activetrader room with over 188 users.

I'm guessing the same people who post on the yahoo message boards join chat as well.

No thanks.

But, I will add that I believe there's a better way to make money with this website. Donations, Ads, Seminars, Pay per week/day (for those of us who work from home, but are off the computer 70% of the time). Keeping the chat public allows for exponential growth. In order to keep the bandwidth down to a minimum, Java can be used to set up IRC chat rooms (which use IRC server and Client bandwidth).

I draw a parallel between subscription services and RIAA vs music piracy: There's a better way to capitalize on it.

It will say that this will weed out all of the noob chat and spam, but most of the people coming here seem to be noobs who play with small accounts. $40-99 is probably all they'd hope to gain in a month.

I do wish everybody luck. I had fun while I was here

Jim .. I agree with you on seminars, that's why we are offering 2 per month – instead of having people blindly follow I'd rather teach what I know, Muddy would rather teach what he knows and allow other traders to become just as successful..

Jim its quality not quantity, if expotential growth carried the quality along with it I'd agree with you. If you haven't realized in the weeks/months you'd been in chat we aren't like your normal Yahoo, IRC, Java chat room. if you disagree that's your choice..

I'd rather it grow by word of mouth .. if it does anything like the past it could double every 3 months..

I wish you luck as well .. perhaps we'll see you around… perhaps not

I agree, I think alot of people will not pay for this, I am not sure I will. It was nice, i thought it was a community thing, you know get together and share ideas and alerts. I would have donated for bandwidth and stuff but as far as paying for it as a service I am not sure, it ruins the community aspect of it for me.

It's not $99 guys, its $10 a week – read the post and read what I sent out.. its $39 a month use promo code ILIVE60

It is a community thing, clearly you guys didn't read anything that was sent otherwise you would have seen the pricing and second you'd see the adidtion of seminars HELPING YOU OUT – if you don't want to join don't join guys no one is forcing anyone to do anything here.

Go to financial chat I used to trade there as well back in the day not sure how it is now.. if you guys want to keep going back with each other here feel free too

why do you need to make so much money off of the members if the trading strategy is successful, seems to me you could have asked for donation and invested them to keep the site running. You are not investment advisors, you would need licenses for that, this was a community site, at least most of us thought it was, we took part gave out alerts shared stock calls. It just seems wierd to me, it felt like a community why turn it into a business.

As I've mentioned a million times in chat, I like to build thing, I like to build projects, sites communities etc. Why stop at making money 5 days a week when you can make money an additional 2 days a week and feel good about teaching a zillion traders.

This isn't a community built overnight and I'm not looking to build it over night, this is a word of mouth thing one successful trader tells another and so on and so forth, if you want to be part of it great, if not,… no biggy

Its a nominal amount, I'd rather fund future developments with money made from current ones..

Clearly these are comments coming from people who haven't been in chat for a long time, who haven't been in chat after hours from 6pm to midnight when I, Muddy Laura and tort field questions throughout the night or the Saturday's or Sunday's we've donated to new traders, nor those who appreciate scans done nightly on my site, no those who appreciate the scans, techniques and willingness of everyone involved.

Heading out for now – feel free to continue to talk amongst yourself

No I havent been in chat a long time, only 9 months or so, I don't understand the building a community thing, it seems to me there was a community already built before the chat went to investors live. I woudl like to here what Muddy and Laura have to say not just what IL has to say. Why are you looking to now make thousands of dollars a month off of the community you built. It just seems wierd, why do all good things have to eventually cost something, like I said I would have donate dot support the community but not to something that is for profit, I am looking to make profits trading.

I just got to say thank you guys. I've learn a lot in the last few weeks. i woke up everymorning looking  forward to log in and open the chat to be part of it and learn something new everyday. You help a lot of people during this time and alll of us should be thankful for that. The community idea is great, made most of us feel like a family. You do what u do for whatever reason i just have to thank you for al the things u share with everyone and wish you the best to all of you.

To all the administrators keep up the good work!   Dont get discouraged by the naysayers, the cheapskates,  let them build their own free chat site if they like, and lets see if they have the patience to cope with all the personalities out there.

Dostroy – Muddy and Laura are in chat as always and also available on their blogs if you'd like to ask them any questions. We've built the chat, spent endless hours after hours and through the weekends helping anyone wanting to learn and with that decided anyone and everyone will benefit from what we are creating. We'll be introducing a knowledge base which will grow with the site, along with all seminars allowing everyone to get on the same page. As you know its a different style of trading, in fact its based around simplicity. Not many people have taken the time to review all of the blogs and really get it, some people have and realize the asset the chat is. All good things end up costing things so we can continue to make them better. If you use the quarterly option its just under $8.50 a week, if you really feel that's unfair then there's nothing I can do. We want to expand our offerings, teach traders to become just as successful as Muddy and creat something which can grow on its own.

I will have a post tomorrow regarding more information on the Q and A seminar and a scan up tonight.

well as they say all good things come to an end.  i was a new user, only watching for about 3 or 4 months,  as a friend showed me the site.  I figured it was going to go this way, a pay site that is.  Unfortunately many seem to feel the same way, betrayed in a way.  Nobody can help how they feel, after all, you cant blame a man for wanting to make as much money as possible and maybe even stop having to trade, or just get a bunch of extra cash.  Its in man's nature to make as much money as is feasible, so it just made sense to take this to the next level. As for me, I see sites start up free, then go pay and I go away.  Its one thing to make money in the market, but as a community it was nice to help each other out and make money with each other, not make money at anothers expense.  Good luck and thanks for some of the tips.

Is the seminar done online or face-to-face? Am not in the US.

Thanks guys. I like what I see so far. Just trying to reduce my overheads now, and sometime soon, I'd pay for the subscription.
